As part of the “Geospatial Assessment of Women Employment and Business Opportunities in the Energy Sector” project, open-source Gender-related spatial data was collected for 31 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) across the globe, resulting in curated and thoroughly documented geodatabases (GDBs) that are now ready to be explored! 
Fifty-nine spatial layers were identified and then researched for each country, covering the following categories: Demographics and Population | Renewable Energy | Energy Access | Education | Jobs and Finance | Digital Inclusion | Transportation | Safety | Amenities | Climate/Earth | Law/Policy/Government. 


However, not every country GDB contains all 59 data layers, as this was dependent on the availability of open-source data in each SIDS. Users are encouraged to check the accompanying metadata excel file for more information on the datasets in each GDB, the vintage, and the

The World Development Report 2022: Finance for an Equitable Recovery examines the central role of finance in the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. In doing so, it looks into the consequences of the crisis most likely to affect emerging economies and proposes a set of policies to mitigate the interconnected financial risks stemming from the pandemic and to steer economies toward a sustainable and equitable recovery. All Countries Species Protection (Terrestrial)

This dataset compiles country-level information on protected and unprotected areas alongside key geographic and socioeconomic attributes. Each record corresponds to a country and a standardized country code (gid0). Country names are provided in several formats (bname, cname, and cname0) to accommodate different naming conventions. The dataset also includes each country's United Nations geographic region (unregion2) and World Bank income classification (wbincomegroup). Two numerical fields—protected and unprotected—report the total area values (or counts) of lands falling within protected and unprotected categories, respectively. Together, these fields offer a structured overview of national characteristics relevant to evaluating global patterns of land protection and conservation status.

This dataset contains records describing species occurrence regions and related attributes. Each species is identified by a unique code in the species field, while lcat indicates whether the species is associated with coastal, land, or ocean habitats. The method field identifies the spatial approach—either AlphaHull or ConvexHull—used to generate each occurrence region, and grp denotes the species’ broader taxonomic or functional group. The area column provides the estimated spatial extent of each occurrence region, and ncountries indicates the number of countries in which that region is found.

This dataset summarizes country-level protection metrics. Each record represents a single country, identified by its ISO code (gid0) and standardized name (cname0), and classified within the broader region “Marine” or "Terrestrial" and the United Nations geographic grouping (unregion2). For each country, the dataset reports the minimum and maximum percentages of marine areas falling within a specified protection threshold (min_pct and max_pct). The category field groups countries according to protection level classes.
