As part of the “Geospatial Assessment of Women Employment and Business Opportunities in the Energy Sector” project, open-source Gender-related spatial data was collected for 31 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) across the globe, resulting in curated and thoroughly documented geodatabases (GDBs) that are now ready to be explored! 
Fifty-nine spatial layers were identified and then researched for each country, covering the following categories: Demographics and Population | Renewable Energy | Energy Access | Education | Jobs and Finance | Digital Inclusion | Transportation | Safety | Amenities | Climate/Earth | Law/Policy/Government. 


However, not every country GDB contains all 59 data layers, as this was dependent on the availability of open-source data in each SIDS. Users are encouraged to check the accompanying metadata excel file for more information on the datasets in each GDB, the vintage, and the

This dataset defines road corridors as 5 km-wide areas around road links (2.5 km on each side).&nbsp;For each country, we start by calculating the total road length as the network expands through five category levels (trunk, motorway, primary, secondary, tertiary) using Open Streets Maps. The implications for network density depend on the size of the area covered. Our linearized comparator is the square root of the country’s area (i.e., the side length of a square with the same area). For each country, we calculate the following ratio as the network expands from the first (trunk) to the fifth (tertiary) category:&nbsp;(1) RC = [road network length] / [sqrt(country area)]&nbsp;We select the road network category level for each country that results in an RC value closest to 50. Because forested regions tend to have sparser road networks, we broaden the category selection in these areas using data from Tuanmu and Jetz (2014). After selecting road links, we generate 5 km corridors around them and convert these to rasters at 1 km resolution. We then exclude steeply sloped corridor areas where expansion would not be feasible. The exclusion mask is based on 1 km digital elevation data from MERIT-DEM. Global key roads 

This dataset represents a Road Corridor Priority Index derived from normalized species counts, categorized into deciles across four priority species groups: endemic and large (EndLg), endemic and small (EndSm), non-endemic and large (NEndLg), and non-endemic and small (NEndSm). A species is considered endemic if it occurs within a single administrative entity (i.e., a country), while small refers to species whose known species occurrence region is less than or equal to 25 km × 25 km. The index highlights spatial patterns of biodiversity importance along road corridors: lower values indicate areas of lower conservation priority, while higher values represent regions of highest priority. Field Descriptions: rd_mjr_cat: Decile category priority index normalized by each administrative area (e.g., "0–10", "11–20"). rd_mjr_km2: Total area (in square kilometers) of adjusted road corridor that falls within the given category for the species. rd_mjr_prc: Percentage of the species occurrence region that is within the specified category.
