The FAO has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality).

The FAO launched a household survey in Iraq in October 2021 where a total of 1354 agricultural households were interviewed across four governorates, representing Iraq’s distinct agro-ecological regions. This sixth-round survey was administered through computer-assisted telephone interviews in October and November – just after the harvest season.
