As part of the “Geospatial Assessment of Women Employment and Business Opportunities in the Energy Sector” project, open-source Gender-related spatial data was collected for 31 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) across the globe, resulting in curated and thoroughly documented geodatabases (GDBs) that are now ready to be explored! 
Fifty-nine spatial layers were identified and then researched for each country, covering the following categories: Demographics and Population | Renewable Energy | Energy Access | Education | Jobs and Finance | Digital Inclusion | Transportation | Safety | Amenities | Climate/Earth | Law/Policy/Government. 


However, not every country GDB contains all 59 data layers, as this was dependent on the availability of open-source data in each SIDS. Users are encouraged to check the accompanying metadata excel file for more information on the datasets in each GDB, the vintage, and the

World Development Report 2021

The World Development Report 2022: Finance for an Equitable Recovery examines the central role of finance in the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. In doing so, it looks into the consequences of the crisis most likely to affect emerging economies and proposes a set of policies to mitigate the interconnected financial risks stemming from the pandemic and to steer economies toward a sustainable and equitable recovery. The World Settlement Footprint Collection includes country datasets describing the evolution of the built-area across the globe at a ~30m resolution.

This dataset contains processed AIS messages representing trade routes, or "trips", for the Pacific ports. The original source for the AIS data is Spire (formerly ExactEarth), and it was accessed and processed through the <a href="https://unstats.un.org/wiki/display/AIS/AIS+Handbook" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">United Nations Global Platform</a>. The methodology to generate this dataset can be summarized as follows:<ol><li>Extract AIS data within port buffers (22-km)</li><li>Detect vessel movements traversing between buffer area and port boundary, and vice versa.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Assign trip attributes (incoming or outgoing, time spent in port, reported draught)</li><li>Merge ship registry information (granular classification of ships).</li><li>Back-propagate departures draught information (when it is not updated).</li><li>Estimate trade volume based on change in draught and utilization rate. Following the methodologies from Jia et al. (2019) and Verschuur et al (2021)</li></ol>

Sub-national Boundaries for Pacific Island Countries - Admin 1

This dataset consist of various climate indices generated by the GOST team: consecutive dry days - CDD, consecutive wet days - CWD, standardized precipitation index - SPI standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index - SPEI. The values are monthly aggregates for administrative 1 boundaries.

The table contains monthly statistics for 131 areas across 12 countries (Papua New Guinea, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu).

The time coverage varies by indicator but extends from January 1958 to December 2021.

The methodology is based on the <a href="https://www.imo.org/en/ourwork/Environment/Pages/Fourth-IMO-Greenhouse-Gas-Study-2020.aspx" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(206, 145, 120);">Fourth International Maritime Organization (IMO) Greenhouse Gas Study (2020)</a> and was adapted by Cherryl Chico.

Sum of fishing hours by exclusive economic zone estimated by Global Fishing Watch with Automatic Identification System (AIS) data. The data covers 12 countries (Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea). Sum of fishing hours provided at a monthly frequency and disaggregated by fishing gear type detected.The data was accessed through GFW's API under a Creative Commons <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">CC BY-NC 4.0 license</a>.
