As part of the “Geospatial Assessment of Women Employment and Business Opportunities in the Energy Sector” project, open-source Gender-related spatial data was collected for 31 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) across the globe, resulting in curated and thoroughly documented geodatabases (GDBs) that are now ready to be explored! 
Fifty-nine spatial layers were identified and then researched for each country, covering the following categories: Demographics and Population | Renewable Energy | Energy Access | Education | Jobs and Finance | Digital Inclusion | Transportation | Safety | Amenities | Climate/Earth | Law/Policy/Government. 


However, not every country GDB contains all 59 data layers, as this was dependent on the availability of open-source data in each SIDS. Users are encouraged to check the accompanying metadata excel file for more information on the datasets in each GDB, the vintage, and the

Multi-Hazard Index

Part one of the report conducts an analytic mapping of intersectional risks for South Sudan based on existing data and assessments related to natural hazards and conflict and fragility. Part two of the report explores in greater depth and based on field-based qualitative research the specific interrelationship between natural disasters, conflict and displacement. The study provides valuable insights and lessons learned for future research on the intersectionality of disaster- and conflict-related risks. South Sudan, as many other conflict-affected countries, faces the challenge of a scarce and fragmented data environment. Taking stock of and mapping existing data proved to be a useful approach to identify data gaps and entry points for more detailed, quantitative and qualitative analyses. The study, however, also showed that a more comprehensive conceptual framework of the wider DRM-FCV nexus is needed for analyzing the intersectionality of crisis risks. Such a framework can be particularly useful to more clearly delineate the focus of analysis and derive a methodology which can be applied in different contexts.

Simple risk index obtained by combining hazard exposure ranking for floods, droughts, earthquake, extreme heat and wildfires in South Sudan considering population, settlements and health facilities. The Multi-Hazard Index is calculated at ADM1 level. Flood exposure is calculated for all return periods and exposure categories at ADM2 level.
