The Urban Green Area information product contains spatial explicit information on green areas located within the Urban Extent (derived from LULC product) of the city. Green areas include linear green features such as river alignments, hedges and trees, as well as public parks, private gardens, forested areas, etc. The Urban Green Area dataset is based on Very High Resolution (VHR) satellite imagery (Quickbird-2: 2008) / (Worldview-2: 2017) by means of automated classification processing techniques.

The Urban Green Area classification 2008 for Mtwara was produced using Very High Resolution satellite imagery (2008: Quickbird-2). All steps for production of the dataset had a related Quality Control measure which is documented in the Annexes of the “EO4SD-Urban Mtwara City Report, 2019.” The final thematic accuracy for this product was 94.88%. The Urban Green Area classification 2017 for Mtwara was produced using Very High Resolution satellite imagery (2017: Worldview-2). All steps for production of the dataset had a related Quality Control measure which is documented in the Annexes of the “EO4SD-Urban Mtwara City Report, 2019.” The final thematic accuracy for this product was 95.81%.
